The Texas Homeschool Expo was a brand-new exerience for me, and I do not have enough words to express how wonderful it was. I sold 125 of my books and gave away about twenty books by other Christian authors at my prize wheel. Everyone who spun the wheel received a prize--either a bookmark, a coloring page, a candy, or (drum roll) a free book! Above, you see only a sampling of the happy faces of children who received free books. Before the event, I prayed each book would land in the hands of the child who most needed that particular one, and I believe this is exactly what happened.
While tending my booth, I was blessed to visit with a lot of dedicated homeschool families and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. I also had an opportunity to visit other booths and enjoyed seeing what kinds of resources are available to homeschoolers now since it has been quite a few years since I homeschooled my children. The atmosphere was festive, lively, and wonderfully positive.
Special thanks to Jasmine Lee, who put the whole thing together and did it all with a smile!
Even more thanks to my two amazing grandaughters, Zoe and Amity Cronenberger, who helped set up, take down, and faithfully tended the booth throughout the entire length of the event for two days. I could not have done it without them. I am so blessed to have a supportive family. The vendor in the booth next to mine commented, "They are a blessing." She was right.
And speaking of family, my amazing husband worked as hard as any of us, tending to the prize wheel and making sure everyone who came by spun for a prize. Why isn't he in any of the pictures? Because he's the one behind the camera!
I definitely hope to go again next year. Maybe I'll see you there! Until then... |
